Have you ever walked along a path and noticed that in your shoe was a pebble causing discomfort to your foot? You continued walking, the stone displacing itself to another part of your shoe, the pain now to the point of distraction and always on your mind. You finally stop and remove your shoe, shake it, and the offending tiny pebble rolls out onto the ground. You put your shoe back on and continue walking. Ah, relief!

Now imagine that stone in your shoe is something in your life that’s an ongoing nuisance to you. It could be an unpaid bill, a pile of dishes or papers, a torn favourite item of clothing you’ve been meaning to get repaired, a phone call or appointment you must make, or anything you need to attend to, but for some reason, put off. It niggles at you, causing irritation and suffering. It’s as if that pebble has turned into a big stone! What would happen if you took care of that task? How would you feel?

What, in your life, represents that stone in your shoe? And what do you need to do to remove it?
