These pictures arrived in my e-mail box as part of a larger message about amazing paths. They inspire me to write about the amazing paths we choose on our life journey. Some paths we don’t choose at all–they simply unfold as we take that step toward the unknown. Sometimes, we find ourselves on a path that feels perilous; it might be narrow. We are careful not to stray in case we get off the path and off course. Sometimes we choose another path that seems safer.

Paths offer us options. We have choices to make, decisions to take. Which path to choose can be overwhelming. Is there a right path? What if I choose the wrong path? What if…? Leo Tolstoy wrote in The Death of Ivan Illich: “What if my whole life has been wrong?” This profound question asks “What if the life path I chose has been wrong?”

Wayne Dyer talks about the power to reinvent yourself every day: “The shift that happens in moments when we reinvent our idea of how and why we’re living our life is available to all of us. I’ve had these shifts many times during my life.”

You wake up and choose today’s path. It’s that simple; you can start over every day…even every moment. How empowering that each new path begins with a new moment. And each new moment can begin a new path. What if your whole life has been just right? What if the life you lead is made up of a series of right paths and there is no such thing as a wrong life or a wrong path? What if you choose today, a path that you acknowledge at the end of your life as THE ONE you were meant to take? What might that path look like?

What path would you like to take in this moment?
